Overview

The IT43 RadIC is an intelligent in-cabin radar sensor developed by ITAS, designed for contactless, high-resolution detection of passengers and their vital signs. Operating in the 60–64 GHz ISM band, this compact unit is purpose-built for integration into modern vehicles via a standard 1x8 automotive connector, offering reliable performance in all driving conditions.

Challenge

Automotive manufacturers face growing demand for cabin safety features such as:

  • Child presence detection to prevent hot car incidents

  • Occupant verification for airbag and seatbelt systems

  • Health status monitoring during emergencies
Traditional optical or pressure-based systems often fail in low visibility, under blankets, or with unresponsive occupants. Meanwhile, regulatory bodies are introducing new in-cabin safety requirements to protect vulnerable occupants.

Solution

IT43 RadIC provides a powerful alternative with contactless sensing and seamless automotive integration:

  • Operating band: 60–64 GHz (ISM)
  • Detection range: Up to 8 meters

  • Angular resolution: 4.2° (azimuth & elevation)
  • Field of view: ±60° (horizontal & vertical)
  • Power consumption: <3W | Supply: 5V
  • Operating temperature: –40°C to +125°C

  • Compact size: 35 x 45 x 15 mm
  • Automotive interface:
1x8 pin connector – optimized for in-cabin applications
  • Optional IP67-rated enclosure for environmental protection
